Self Esteem is a common word that is used by many people in the world. Unfortunately, most people don't know the exact meaning of the word. Self esteem is related to psychology, hence the psychological field has defined self esteem as a person's self appraisal, in other words - their worth in their own minds. Self esteem consists of both belief and emotions. Self esteem is always reflected in one's behavior.
Most people think that self esteem is based on one's confidence in one's self. A staggering amount of people have the highest level of confidence in themselves but have the lowest possible amount of self confidence. The most vulnerable to the low self esteem are the onstage actors and comedians. With excellent performances on stage, they may be feeling desperately insecure off stage.
Individuals having low or no self esteem have a tendency to react negatively to smallest thing said to them. A person who has very low or no self esteem is easily hurt by any type of criticism. He cannot accept the criticism in the right way it was intented and use it to improve himself. This person is very shy in social gatherings. He can also be aggressive when some things are considered. Most of the victims of low self esteem try to hide their feelings from others and even try to avoid certain relationships for fear of rejection and disappointment. In most cases, the victims blame themselves for the break up of any personal relationship or for practically everything that goes wrong. The person starts feeling insecure because he thinks that he is inferior to others. He does not look at the good qualities he possesses and does not feel that he has anything of value to offer anybody. He tries as much as possible to avoid new experiences.
He tends to depend more on his luck than his hard work to achieve his goals. He also tends to rejoice when others fail. He dwells on his failures instead of trying to do something to improve himself.
